Capture you memories!

This is something I have been considering posting for quite some time and I really want to put it out there. Recently I was searching for a blog post I had read some time ago that shed light on the interpretation that photography is indeed a luxury item. A fellow photographer was able to find that post for me, which can be seen here. It's a great post that I highly suggest you read, but I also wanted to elaborate on this some.

How many of you reading this post have ever had this one restaurant that you adore! The best food ever and it's always a treat to go there. But, your luck, that restaurant is not located in your town and the closest one to you is a bit of a drive. (For us, that would be Cracker Barrel, which is an hour away!) You don't go every single weekend, not even every month to this restaurant, but occasionally you indulge and treat yourself and family and make the trip!

What about that band you love so much? How awesome they are on tour and will be in concert a couple of towns away. The tickets are a bit pricey but, hey, you love them and the memories to be made are priceless!

If you think about it, how is this any different from photography? Let's say you're online and you notice that one photographer whose work really speaks to you! Their style is amazing, the way they capture emotion, everything about it seems perfect for you and your family. You check their location and oh no, they are not located locally, but are driving distance. Sure, there are photographers that are closer that could capture your memories for you, but deep down you really are attached to this specific one. You decide that they are worth the drive, so next you check the price of their sessions. You inquire and oh my! That is quite a bit more than you were thinking of spending on photos. I mean, they are just portraits anyways, right? Wrong! Remember that concert? The perfect band, pricey, but the memories are endless. Well the same goes for a photo session! These are memories captured, moments frozen in time!

Perhaps it's the moment of love.

Or a moment of friendship.

Maybe it's a moment of happiness.

A moment of growth.

A moment of celebration.

How about a moment that you wish you could freeze forever?

A moment with personality.

A moment you want to remember forever.

So ask yourself this: If that restaurant is worth the drive, that concert is worth the price, that trip is worth the time, then aren't these memories worth it as well? It may be once a month, once a season, maybe once a year, but add photography on your list of must have luxury items this year! And capture something special!

Thanks for reading!
